Travel with artist/curator Rita Lazauskas on an adventure that explores the Arts and Culture of Morocco with a special focus on traditional Textiles.
Working in public galleries as a curator and in the development of education programs, workshops and guided tours, Rita has many years experience working with textile artists and collections. This together with her passion for Morocco and the indigenous Amazigh (Berber) Culture makes her an excellent host for this tour.
We travel over the famous Tizi n’Tichka Atlas Mountains pass, through traditional Amazigh villages and immense fortified mud Kasbahs, where we find the finest examples of Moroccan artistry.
The Imperial City of Marrakech offers Cultural Museum Collections and the exotic old Medina where you will find the dyers souks, leatherworks and every imaginable textile technique from tassels and braid through to embroidery and felt.
Travelling solo or with a small group of like-minded enthusiasts and experienced guides, you will discover the highlights of Morocco and the Amazigh Culture that evolves and continues largely through the extraordinary textile tradition. We also enjoy the food, music and complete range of traditional crafts!
