Morocco PHOTOGRAPHY TOUR

Travel Morocco with photographer SILVI GLATTAUER and gain insights for creating imagery that extends beyond the snapshot!

This 14 day tour traverses a large part of Morocco from the ancient city of Marrakech, over the spectacular landscape of the High Atlas Mountains to the northern edge of the vast Sahara. Then we head north to Fes and the blue city of Chefchaouen, finishing in the capital city of Rabat.

Travelling with Silvi we will experience the wonderful world of the indigenous Amazigh (Berber) people. Time is given to taking photographs en route to explore the wealth and beauty of the Moroccan landscape and culture, interspersed with lively discussion on the topics of conceptual image-making and visual storytelling.

Accommodation is provided in the most comfortable traditional guesthouses where we enjoy the extraordinary delights of Amazigh food and hospitality. The warmth and good humour of the people is immense and the insights into the Islamic world and Amazigh spirituality and contemporary life fascinating.

Traveling with a small group of like-minded people and an experienced team of co-hosts the program offers an innovative and creative way to explore a new place that is stimulating, supportive and safe.

This trip is designed for individual attention from Silvi, tailored to your skill level and preferred outcomes. The luxury of a two-week journey allows Silvi to help you enhance your photography skills, meeting you where you are in your artistic development.

Each day, Silvi will engage the group with creative tips and tricks, encouraging you to think beyond the ordinary and craft playful yet thoughtful images.

Editing and processing images to maximise quality for a fine print result.

ABOUT SILVI
Silvi Glattauer is a practicing photo-media artist from Melbourne, Australia. A founding member of The Baldessin Press & Studio, Silvi is recognised as an authority on the Photopolymer Photogravure process as well as working with a range of other photographic processes.
The central themes in Silvi’s art works are underpinned by a love of nature and a deep concern for the environment, narrated through her personal references. Silvi’s approach is to collect, to archive, to classify and to record.

Combining multiple photographic techniques and a handmade aesthetic Silvi aims to create images that render time, place, and beauty palpable. In the process, her work invokes notions of materiality, object, and preciousness.
Silvi has exhibited through out Australia and abroad, most recently at the Museum of Victoria and four times Bowness Photography Prize shortlisted finalist. Major achievements also include winning the prestigious Nillumbik Prize and commission by the Victorian government to create a documentary series for bushfire recovery and memorials in 2014 and 2016. Selected artist in residence for ACE, Argentina, ART PRINT Residence, Barcelona and Inkmasters, Cairns.
Silvi’s work is held in many private and public collections, including the Murray Art Museum Albury (MAMA) and Geelong Regional Galleries, Melbourne Museum, State Library Victoria, Monash Gallery of Art and Nillumbik Shire council, as well as numerous regional galleries around Australia.
